Review:
(spoiler-free)Honestly? It took me a long time to figure out what I could say about this book. There are plenty of reviews—some people adore it, others hate it. And I understand both sides.
Hunting Adeline is definitely not a story where the heroine is cherished, her boundaries respected, and she is protected like a princess. If you’re looking for a light, healthy romance, keep moving. This is a novel about stalking, manipulation, and obsession. The main character is not someone you can justify with a tragic past or unfortunate circumstances. He knows exactly what he’s doing and doesn’t try to change. Moreover, he fights against violence while embodying it himself.
“Why? What made you decide to do this?”
”Because I want to, baby”
In some scenes, I wanted to scream, “Adeline, how are you dealing with this?” But she has an honest answer to that. She has always enjoyed horror, and fear excites her.
“What are you feeling right now?” he asks softly.
My breathing escalates. “Confined.”
“Trapped?” he volleys back. My mouth tightens because while a part of me wants to say yes, the truth is that I don’t.
I feel... safe.
Protected.
Treasured.
When I first started reading it—right up until the middle of the book—I was convinced I wouldn’t read the second part. The level of violence against the heroine was overwhelming (compared to the books I usually read), and I was sure their story would end for me here. But in the very end, the author pulled off the biggest manipulation possible. The book ended at the most intriguing and compelling point in the plot, making it impossible not to continue reading.
If you’re not deterred by stories of power, control, and obsessive infatuation, this one might grip you. But be prepared—this is an emotional rollercoaster.
